Mission Statement:
Recognizing and promoting excellence in the science and application of psychology.
Purpose:
Psi Chi is an international honor society whose purpose shall be to encourage, stimulate, and maintain excellence in scholarship of the individual members in all fields, particularly in psychology, and to advance the science of psychology.
MEET THE 2023-2024 OFFICERS
President: Emma Guritza

Emma is a senior majoring in Child Psychology with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. She is also a member of Chi Omega and the Catholic Student Association. During school semesters, she is a PSR assistant for kids at St. Mary's in Hudson and serves as the Bible Study and Rosary Co-Coordinators at her church on campus. In summer, Emma has enjoyed working for the Cleveland Clinic's Summer Treatment Program for kids and adolescents with ADHD. After graduating with her bachelor's (BA) in December, Emma will plan on continuing her education with a Master's and license in School Psychology. One interesting fact about her is that she studied abroad in Ireland in May! When she is not busy with school, Emma enjoys thrifting, hanging out with her friends, watching YouTube, and playing video games.

Hannah is a senior Psychology major, with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing. She is currently working on a meta-analysis that explores the relationship between declarative memory and vocabulary developing in young children. Hannah loves working with kids, and she plans to attend graduate school to become a Child Life Specialist. During her free time she enjoys writing poetry, watching baseball, and hanging out with her family and friends! |

Samantha is a junior double majoring in Psychology and Human Development & Family Sciences. She is also part of the McNair's Scholars Program. Currently, she is working with Dr. Updegraff's Self, Health and Emotions lab. Samantha plans on attending graduate school to pursue a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. During her free time, Samantha enjoys hanging out with friends, taking pictures, going on walks, listening to music and keeping up with reality TV shows! |

Brooke is a junior majoring in Psychology, with minors in Leadership and Human Resource Management. Currently, Brooke has an internship with a company that provides mental health benefits to different companies globally. Here at Kent, she is part of the Ladies' Lift Club. After Undergrad, Brooke plans to pursue a Master's in Clinical Psychology. In her free time she enjoys working out, going for walks, watching sports, shopping, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family! |

Jordan is a senior majoring in Psychology, with a concentration in Child Psychology. She hopes to pursue a Master's in Mental Health Counseling, and become a therapist for adolescents. Outside of her academics, she is a member in Chi Omega Fraternity, she plays in intramural sports, and she is part of Active Minds KSU. Originally from Buffalo, NY Jordan loves to cheer on the Bills! She also enjoys cooking delicious dishes for her friends and family during her free time. |

Dr. Shannon Ciesla is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences. You can typically find her in the classroom being overly enthusiastic about psychology. In her free time she enjoys reading whatever books she can get her hands on, spending time outdoors, and annoying her husband with her excessive consumption of trashy reality TV shows. She is also a cat mom to four spoiled felines: Lorelai, Arthur, Meepy, and Nessie.
